Work has now commenced on our project to enhance the facilities and services the church provides to its community with:
- Alterations to create additional storage and facilities in the Gabriel (Tower) Room
- Alterations to the west end of south aisle to form a multipurpose communal, prayer, gathering space
- Creation of an information and storage facility cabinet in the southwest nave
- Creation of ringers’ storage chests and an A.V. lighting controls cabinet
The new purpose-designed storage units in the Gabriel Room are taking shape. These will accommodate the portable staging, church folding tables and chairs, storage for the Church Pantry (foodbank), Little Angels (under 5s group), and cleaning equipment.
The pews from the aisle have been removed by the carpenters in readiness for the multipurpose area. Until the Gabriel Room works are completed this space and many of the pews on the north side of the church are beings used as temporary storage.
The church continues to operate a full set of services, concerts and other events but we are afraid it is not as tidy as we would wish, for which we apologise.
We remain very grateful to the Friends of St Michael’s who have enabled these extensive improvements to the church facilities through funds raised at the annual Summer Music Concert series.
